Vetrans & Asbestos

Asbestos+ Veterans given the advanced age of our WW II veterans survivors, time is short for these victims of asbestos related diseases. Veterans diagnosed with fatal diseases related to asbestos, such as mesothelioma and lung cancer, it is virtually impossible to obtain compensation for their exposure under the current system. If the veterans are trying to sue a company that once supplied the equipment for the government, facing a line in the courthouse that takes years to navigate – years that veterans honestly not the worst. Today there are over 500,000 cases of asbestos in the courts and more accumulate every day. Many of these cases were brought by lawyers on behalf of people who do not even have symptoms of diseases related to asbestos. Finally, on Capitol Hill are serious about fixing some of this moral crisis that is so harmful to veterans. The Judiciary Committee began work on equity Asbestos Resolution Act of injuries, and the FAIR Act.

This legislation should ensure that veterans suffering from asbestos-related disease, finally a fair compensation and certain. If the senators let this opportunity pass, we can never get so close to a solution. More veterans are dying of diseases related to asbestos without compensation. We must not let this happen. As veteran, I urge Senator Cornyn, a member of the Judiciary Committee to support this critical legislation for veterans. And I ask senators to vote in Texas FAIR Act, when it comes to the Senate.
